Jan & Feb 2025: Exhibition Prep

Intro

Here’s a list of all the wonderful things you’ve done this year. We will be spending the next few weeks preparing them for display! Think of fun, interactive ways to display them for your exhibition.

Guide

  1. Make a Plan for the exhibition:

Design an exhibition experience and plan to break up the work into 5 major themes. Each theme could have its own area or installation. Here is what was discussed in Jan 2025

Theme 1 - STREET FURNITURE -garden

Street furniture from mini exhibition

  • Make a bird feeder type platform or plant pot holder with a board to display the mini street furniture

voleyball net, hopsotch

  • Volleyball net and hopscotch by the tree

  • Best is to recreate what was done for the mini exhibition, and make additions to it for extra work. it was very successful!

Theme 2 - PAPER CRAFTS -garden

Deepavali and Vesak Lanterns

Origami - lanterns

Paper Towers

Paper Jewellery and Hats

  • Deepavali, Origami and Vesak lanterns will be hanging on the staircase

  • Paper jewellery and hats will be on a jewellery seller dummy mid way on the staircase

  • Need a dummy and a big jacket to dress it

  • Interactive segment: students can show guests how to make origami

Theme 3 -ART FOR THE SENSES - Location TBD

Draw to music

  • Two spectrums where the artworks would be hanging - with heavy and light music

  • Equipment - two speakers

  • Interactive segment: students can ask guests to join for a drawings session and hang it up!

Smell and Texture Art

  • Keep the artworks covered (smell) and keep the smell-inspired object close by. Ask the visitor to imagine what the smell would look like

  • Texture Art - have blindfolds ready for the visitors to be able to pick up the object and imagine what it looks like

  • Keep the texture tiles to lead to the street furniture

  • Blindfolds and covers for the artworks

Musical Instruments

  • On a table

Theme 4 - THE ART OF STORYTELLING - Art class

Everyday Patterns

  • Show the artwork to the children and generate a story for it

  • The story will be displayed alongside the artworks - make a giant book out of bristol board for it
